Soundfall’s beat-based co-op is coming to PS5 and PS4 this spring

In Soundfall, you play as one of five musical heroes transported to a distant world to defend music against the forces of Discord.

Soundfall is a rhythm-based twin-stick shooter that is procedurally generated to music. Players are immersed in a familiar control setup and visual, that of a top-down hack-and-slash, with one huge twist: Actions performed on the beat are much more powerful. Lose rhythm and you lose power.

The result is both frenetic and meditative, as players find a balance between following their enemies and acting in time with the music in a world that grooves and bounces to that same music.

The heroes of Soundfall – Melody, Jaxon, Lydia, Brite and Ky – are musical geniuses from Earth, transported to Symphonia, the world of music, via the mysterious Soundfall. Each character has their own special attack and ultimate ability tied to their personal Harmony Instrument – ancient musical weapons capable of fending off the forces of Discord.

It won’t be an easy task, even for the five of them. Discord’s forces are led by Banshee, Discord’s most cunning lieutenant, and she brings with her a terrifying assortment of Discordians, evil creatures bent on destroying music wherever they find it. Players will need to defeat the Discordians in each world before the music can be saved.

While all of Soundfall can be played solo, with five characters, the co-op options are extensive. Soundfall features both remote and couch co-op, and the entire game can be played co-op, from campaign to free-play mode.

And don’t worry – Soundfall’s loot and levels are player-specific, so if you log into a friend’s campaign to help them through a rough patch, you both keep the loot and the XP you earn on your own local accounts. Remember, it takes a community to beat Discord and save all the music.

And what music there is! Soundfall comes with a soundtrack containing over 140 songs, and because Symphonia is the World of Music, the Soundfall soundtrack is a multi-genre affair.

Each playable environment in Soundfall has a different musical theme, from the poppy Skylands where the game begins, to the EDM cityscape of Nocturne City, to the intense drums and bass of Jammin’ Jungle. So not only do players have to master the game to the beat, but they also have to master the game to more than 140 musical exploration songs.

Our goal with Soundfall was to create a visually and musically rich gaming experience that would be deeply satisfying in both single-player and co-op play, an engaging and unique experience that would appeal to both casual and hardcore gamers. We are so excited that you are playing.

Soundfall will be released on PS5 and PS4 this spring!
