The spring soundtrack has arrived. The latest release from K-pop group Red Velvet, The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel my rhythm, is full of airy sounds, rich vocals, and the iconic Red Velvet attitude that fans love.
SM Entertainment’s veteran quintet are celebrating their eighth anniversary by releasing their 14th EP. The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Beat is an extension of the Dream Festival the series began in 2019. Red Velvet deviated from the concept upon release Queen in 2021 but is back with six new songs.
Red Velvet Sample Composer Johann Sebastian Bach
“Feel My Rhythm” is a surprising single. The name may have listeners expecting an uptempo dance floor, but Red Velvet rarely does what is expected of it. While K-pop stars like BTS have collaborated with some of today’s hottest musicians, Red Velvet decided to go in a different direction.
The veteran group samples “Air on the G String” by German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. The result is a mix of classic richness and K-pop mayhem. This audacious decision pays off thanks to the SM producers who are masters in the art of layering sounds.
The lyrics reference this mix of old and new with “Blow confetti/ Let off more fireworks/ Pride and prejudice have nothing against us”. They invite the listener to follow the fantasy with “Feel my beat, come with me/ Imagine anything/ Follow the music/ Dance in the moonlight/ Just now (play my beat).”
Spring Queens Present the Warmth of a New Beginning
In an online press conference, reported by Soompi, Irene, the leader of the group, said: “When you think of spring, there is this feeling of a new beginning. As Red Velvet starts from scratch with its unique “ReVe Festival”, we wanted to showcase the cold of winter and the warmth of spring together. »
With “Feel My Rhythm,” the remaining five songs achieve that goal with whimsy, fun, and a bittersweet goodbye.
The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Beat the track list includes:
- “Feel My Rhythm”
- “Rainbow Halo”
- ” Pray for me “
- “Good, Bad, Ugly”
- “In my dreams”
“Beg for Me” is a Red Velvet signature track with R&B melodies and lots of sass. The lyrics “Dance for me/ Beg for me/ Work for me” seem made for a girls’ night out. “BAMBOLEO”, the Spanish word for swinging, is a bright, retro track perfect for warm spring nights.
Many fans named the last song, “In My Dreams”, as the most outstanding album. A haunting ballad reminiscent of early ’60s innocence, “In My Dreams” showcases Red Velvet’s vocal talent. A Twitter the user wrote: “No one comes close to the red velvet voice….the chorus in my dreams is just an unreal sound.”
Irene, Wendy, Joy, Seulgi and Yuri sing “In My Dreams, You Love Me Back”. The painful vulnerability of this simple line resonates with each member’s delivery.
‘Feel My Rhythm’ music video creates a ‘magical world’
The music video for “Feel My Rhythm” showcases a world with stunning imagery and backdrops that bring the song to life. Viewers are transported to a dreamlike fairy tale with hidden nightmares in the castle’s lush grounds. The choreography handles complicated melody changes with ease, including a memorable sequence during the bridge.
With costumes ranging from casual outfits to flowing dresses and crowns, the members of Red Velvet look like the queens of spring. They cast a spell over the viewers and refuse to let go. As one fan commented Twitter“We are all trapped in their magical world and are bound to love Red Velvet forever.”
