South Florida craft brewery Funky Buddha is teaming up with Riverwalk to bring an all-new food, music and brewing event to Fort Lauderdale.
Next month, the first-ever Riverwalk Rhythm & Brews is billed as an outdoor hangout featuring live music, free lawn games, food trucks hosted by Burger Beast, and cold beers and drinks. Seltzer Water from Funky Buddha.
Funky Buddha marketing director John Linn says the idea started as a “game night in the park” where people could enjoy festive, large-format lawn games. From there, the concept grew into a larger event in partnership with the city’s Riverwalk, the nonprofit organization responsible for beautifying the area’s parks. The little party has turned into an evening that will include live music and food – and lots of beer.
“We have partnered with Riverwalk on a number of events in the past and reconnected a few months ago to talk about how we can do more together as the world begins to open up,” said Linn said. new times. “We wanted to create something that was very cool, very laid back, and a way for people in Fort Lauderdale to get out and have a good time.”
The first Riverwalk Rhythm & Brews will take place at Esplanade Park on Friday, April 15 and will feature live music from Spider Cherry and a lineup of food trucks including local dishes from World Famous Eggroll, Cuban Guys, Tacos el Machine Gon and Jerk It Kitchen.
The outdoor event is free and open to the public, and will also feature draft beer and cans, including a host of Funky favorites like Floridian, Hop Gun IPA, and the brewery’s popular annual release, Maple Bacon. Coffee Porter, as well as hard seltzers.
Going forward, Linn says, the goal is to create an ongoing series and, eventually, an established festival.
“Riverwalk does a lot to promote the local community, so we hope the proceeds from the event can help continue their efforts,” he said. “It’s a free and fun Friday night in the park. Food, music and beer will be on the menu, and there will be games galore. We hope to see everyone there.”
